Law of Attraction – Ask and You Shall Receive

Love The Thing You Hate

I think this needs to be a song title and everyone will then find out how important it is.  I can be honest with you all that I have had my share of things to hate and just this very day, one of them popped up to remind me how good it is to love the thing you hate.

This is a technique written about by Dr John Demartini in his book The Gratitude Effect.  In essence the thing is that you can not let go of something, move on and and start thinking of what you want to replace it with, if you are still caught up with hatred or any negative emotion about it.  To move on, you have to come to terms with the thing, learn to love it and then you can release it and accept new things into your life.

The way that I do this is to sit down and write the longest list I possibly can about why I love the thing.  Every single thing that I can think of about why I am grateful that it occurred.  And then I ask the man of my dreams if I missed anything and he can usually add a few more!  Every little bit helps.

I then just thank the Universe for sending me the thing in the first place, enjoy the moment and get on with life.

It works, it is amazing and I am then able to concentrate on more of my dreams and desires, letting acceptance and deservability in and loving the effect.  And you know what, you can rewire your brain to do this for you without too much work on your part.  You just have to be persistent with it until the new pathway kicks in.  And that is a scientific fact.

Now, on to my next dream, to be a millionaire!  And I am not joking.

Are You Worth It?

The basic premise for the Law of Attraction is that the pie is big enough for everyone to have their share, desire or dream.  That transacting is what makes the world go around and that having money is a good thing.  Well now, there is enough there to debate for a lifetime.  Me, I accept the basic premise and work with it.

Once I got to the point that this might just be true, the Universe does have enough for me and you and everyone else besides, I then had to overcome all of my limiting beliefs.  One of which is that I do not deserve it.  Everyone else might deserve it but not me.  I have believed that I am not worthy of such abundance as my dreams and desires might indicate.

It is hard to say what causes such limiting beliefs but certainly many of the things that I have heard throughout my life are part of it.  Like life was not meant to be easy, work hard and save your pennies, there are haves and have nots – you are a have not and so on.  You know the stories that I am talking about.  I recall very few times when I was instructed to dream, go after your dreams or think big and you will make it.  That was always for the lucky few.

These days though, I take responsibility for myself and work towards my own dreams within the system that I believe works.  I believe that my good fortune is up to me, is there for me and I have to play my part in receiving it.  And it is not about luck!

One of my pieces of self development work is to remove all limiting beliefs, find them, name them and replace them with beliefs that support my dreams and desires.  Beliefs like there is abundance and I deserve it just as much as others do and I have total freedom to pursue my dreams.  What a relief, I am not consigned to seeing them all just drift off into the ether.  And I do not just have to be a survivor of whatever comes my way.

Abundance and prosperity here I come!!  I am worth it, what about you?

When the Going Gets Tough

I have always loved the Australian term “when the going gets tough, the tough get going”.  It is such a marker of Australian spirit and lately here I hear a lot of comments about tough economic times being an opportunity for those with entrepreneurial spirit.  There are certainly many remarkable stories of this having occurred throughout history.  People have become very successful after having seen a unique opportunity during past recessions.

What is it that makes the difference then between those who succumb to the pressures of the tough times, whatever that might be, and those who “get going”.  I believe that it is the attitude that you strike at those times, the mental decision that you make to either get going or sit still and wait.

Much has been written about people who are observers in life, those who sit and watch.  And it appears that in the good times, they can do very well.  Sitting and watching does not seem to be so effective during the tough times.  It appears that these are times for taking control of your emotions, choosing your attitude, taking an unrelenting positive attitude and mixing it with people who are doing the same thing.  I have personally found that it drags me down very quickly when I am with negative people or even people who have little faith in their own abilities.

So if you really want to get going you can do a few things; get familiar with your dreams and passion as they will guide you into what is right for you, have faith in yourself – develop it if you have to, be strong and positive about what you want to come into your life – talk about it, dream about it, write about it and see it coming to you and get control over your emotions.  You are aiming at positive, happy and ultimately the highest level of joy.

This is what personal development is all about.  How to control yourself so that you get exactly the outcomes that you want, whatever they might be.  It truly is worth investing in some best quality self development programs be that books, seminars or the best in the world self coaching.  There are also a variety of arrangements that you can make to support yourself through such a journey.  This is just one that I have found very useful.  I strongly urge anyone who wants to make the most of any time in their life to surround yourself with like minded people and support that is sympathetic to your thinking.

And sometimes the tough who get going also have to take a risk, admit change into their lives and step out of their comfort zone.  Is that you?  Are you ready to be tough and get going?  I did and you can too.  Take a look to see how.

You Get What You Focus On

I was recently talking with some colleagues who are facing adversity as a result of their work situation.  They were sure that they would lose their jobs and were out drinking to their own demise!  Well sure, you have to be realistic and it is not possible to be happy all of the time.  Life is, after all, a delicate balance.  But drinking to your own demise, now that seems to be asking trouble.

I know from my own experience that you get what you focus on.  I spent years focusing on what I did not want to happen and that is what I got.  The things that I did not want.  So my colleagues, by focusing on what they do not want, that is the loss of the job, are at high risk of getting just that.

Knowing what you do not want can be very useful though because it does help you to get to what you do want.  Once you are able to list out what you do want, you can then put your attention there, focus on that and start to see your dreams come true.  So having a “bucket list” of all of the things that you have ever wanted in life is a good place to start.  Make that list right now.  At the same time, write down all of the things that you do not want and see if there is a flip side to that.  Does knowing what you do not want have an opposite that is attractive to you?

Now you know where to focus.

So my friends who have concerns about keeping their jobs would do well to focus on successfully holding their jobs, putting their attention there, at the same time as having faith in themselves as being very employable people.  Keeping a positive mindset.

It is just as easy to think positively as it is to think negatively.  And the good news is that you can learn to do it.

Start From Where You Are.

Having fun is easy. Or is it?

Like many folk I know, I was a pretty serious and intent character when it came to the important things in life.  You know, things like money, earning it, keeping a job, holding the good reputation, being married for 34 years, having three daughters and growing them up, having good health and so on.  I would read well about those things, listen to experts and put in place many of the things that I had learned.  But it was not always fun.  And I most certainly did not always function from a place of happiness and joy.

I did ok though and in general things went pretty well.  Until someone gave me a book called “The Money or Your Life”.  I thought that the book might be about killing yourself in order to keep the money flowing in and it was a little about that.  But is was mostly about finding your “bliss” or in my words your passion in life.  Finding it, believing in it and doing it in order to have the money and fun that you seek, flow in.  My thanks go to a good friend and the Universe for putting this book into my hands.

All of my recent working life has been about earning enough money, doing what I had to do to do that and looking happy.

Now I know to expect more than that.  I can have it all; the money, the passion, the fun and joy and everything in life that comes with those things.  That does not necessarily mean giving up your job, though you might, or moving to the hills to meditate every day, though you might or making radical changes to your every day life, though you also might do that.  It means that you start from where you are at, right at that moment, to make changes in your life and attitude that allow you to appreciate everything that you have – both good and bad.

You will be amazed at the changes that even that small effort will make in your life every day and the peace that will bring to you.  From that small place you can build magnificence.

Sometimes a change of attitude will buy you enough time in your current situation and allow you to look at where you want to be and work on that angle.  Allow you time to see what you are currently focussing on to attract into your life and what it is that you really want to attract into you life.

The lights went on for me at a workshop that I attended last year that started my journey to attract into my life the things that I wanted and not the things that I did not want.  All of my attention was going to what I did not want.  It now goes to what I do want.  My thanks to Sue and her wonderful workshop.  I highly recommend to you, this workshop and the work that Sue does as a great place to start to work on your life and bring to it what you really want, not what you do not want.  It’s easy.

And joy, happiness and fun to you all.

Life is for FUN!

All of my life I believed that my job here on earth was to learn from my experiences so that I could be useful and help people in a more genuine way.  This thinking lead me into all sorts of interesting escapades for which I am truly grateful but which put never ending challenges in my way.  I began to question how I could possibly need so many challenges of the same kind to keep re-learning the same things.  What, I asked, could be the use of this and why did I keep revisiting the same life lessons.

Six months ago, through the diligent efforts of one of my colleagues, I came to understand that there is a Law of Attraction, the most significant Law of the Universe.  From studying the Law of Attraction I have come to realise that I am not here to learn.  In fact I have all of the knowledge that I will ever need but I do need to remember it all.  Naturally that leads to the fact that all of the life scenarios that I had ever had, were not for the purpose of learning.

The reason that I kept receiving these gifts was because that is what I was focusing on and giving all of my attention to in a very negative way.  Even though I constantly reassured myself and anyone who would listen that I did not want more of that, that was where my attention was.  That was what I was attracting.  And because I was focusing in a negative way, I was attracting negativity.

Now this was not very hard to understand when I got right down to the facts. What was hard, was that I was the cause of everything that was happening to me and that I would have to change things in my life and my attention in order to attract new and happier experiences into my life.

You know, one of my friends told me all of this many years ago and I pushed that to one side.  Well, I am open now, thankfully.

So, over the six months that I have studied the Law of Attraction, I have remembered many things including that my job here on earth is actually to have fun, to be happy, to reach of state of pure joy and to offer as much positivity up to the Universe as I possibly can.  Man that feels good.

I have to say that I have been giving the job of having fun a pretty good nudge. Like in Acapulco recently, where I attended the best personal development program of my life.  And had a whole lot of fun with a whole lot of new friends while I was about it.  I also paid attention on the weekend just past when we went to Josephine Falls with friends and had a blast on the natural granite waterslide.  I felt 15 and it was wonderful FUN.

What can you do to start having fun?
